Over a Century of Dewhurst History

1919
Dewhurst was founded in Hatton Garden, London by Melbourne Dewhurst (Managing Director) and Howard Marryat (Chairman).

1930s
Business continued to grow and the Inverness Road factory was extended in 1939.

1950
Global presence extends to Canada, our first overseas company in 1958.

1970s
Alan Dewhurst receives the Design Council Award for the original US881 vandal-resistant pushbutton.

1990s
Richard Dewhurst takes over as Chairman in 1991. The compact pushbutton was launched in the mid-1990s.

2010s
Our presence in Asia is established in Hong Kong in 2010. Dewhurst moved from Inverness Road to new premises in Hampton Business Park, Feltham in 2012.

1920s
Moved to Inverness Road (Hounslow, UK) in 1922. Murray Scott joins as director and shareholder.

1940s
Industrial brakes and control gears become significant product lines. Dewhurst is listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1948.

1960s
Alan Dewhurst takes over as Chairman in 1962.

1980s
Keypads for bank ATMs become a significant product line. Dewhurst is market leader in pushbutton innovations including tactile, braille, laser-cut legends and LED illumination.

2000s
Expansion into Australia in 2000, and Hungary in 2008.

2020s
Further expansion in Singapore in 2023, to expand the displays offering globally.
