This project involved a significant modernisation effort for a portfolio of TKE lifts maintained by the Schindler team in the UAE. Dewhurst was engaged to deliver a fully functional and reliable display solution that could meet Schindler requirements while operating independently of the existing TKE controller. Through close collaboration, technical problem solving and careful on site validation, Dewhurst developed a tailored approach that enabled accurate lift information to be displayed without direct controller communication. This project highlights our ability to engineer smart solutions for complex environments while delivering dependable results for our partners.
- Need to create a solution that would function reliably using a navigation box without controller integration
- Requirement to develop, test and validate a new converter on site through a complete mock up
- Delivering a scalable solution suitable for more than fifty lifts while meeting expectations for quality and performance
Solutions
To overcome these constraints, the Dewhurst team developed a dedicated converter, the CONV AV5 001, designed specifically to support navigation box operation without any direct connection to the TKE controller. This allowed all required lift information to be displayed accurately and consistently. Extensive time was spent on site to carry out a full mock up of the proposed solution, ensuring reliable performance before final approval.
Following successful testing, both Schindler and the end user approved the system for production. Dewhurst also provided locally produced back boxes and faceplates through a trusted UAE vendor, with sample units installed and accepted as part of the approval process. The first confirmed order covers eight lifts with an expected total opportunity of more than fifty lifts. Schindler has expressed satisfaction with the quality and reliability of the solution delivered.
